Oral Health Education
This 12 week course will provide you with an in depth knowledge of Oral Health Education and its provision in today's dental environment.
Objectives- Students will:
" Be aware of dental disease and its place in modern dentistry
" Understand the aetiology of dental disease
" Appreciate the relationship between Oral Health Education and patients dental health
" Demonstrate knowledge of a wide variety of oral hygiene aids and their application
" Be competent in communicating Oral Health advice to patients
" Understand the law, ethics and professionalism required for providing Oral Health Education
" Be proficient in providing advice in line with current guidelines and research
Achieving the qualification will be via a combination of distance learning and attendance of lectures at a CPDforDCP learning facility. Successful candidates will need to complete a portfolio of learning and evidence practical elements of the course through a series of assessments. A final written examination and an oral assessment must be passed to gain the Oral Health Education certificate.
Entrance criteria- Students will have:
" A valid GDC registration
" Ability to complete a portfolio of study
" Availability to attend in house training sessions
" Access to the internet
" A supportive team environment to enable the completion of practical elements of the course (access to patients is essential to gain competency in this element of the course)
Cost- £400 for course work
plus £99 for Examination day
